VENDOR BUYOUTs
Our mutual aid efforts all started with Vendor Buyouts. We meet at a pre-determined location, ride around supporting street vendors, and buying everything they have so they can go home and be safe with their family. We then ride around passing out the food to hungry Chicagoans at encampments, shelters, and fill Love Fridges. CxS donors provide the funding used to purchase the food. Cyclists only need to bring their bikes and maybe something to carry food (optional)!
HOME BUYOUTs
Through our partnership with the Street Vendors Association, we are connected to street vendors who are too scared to be out in the community so we organize home buyouts. Volunteers with CxS contact the vendor, place an order, and schedule the day/time for pickup. Cyclists then meet at a pre-determined location, ride to the home of the street vendor, and pickup the food. We then ride out and distribute the food to hungry Chicagoans at encampments, shelters, and Love Fridges. CxS donors provide the funding used to purchase the food. Cyclists only need to bring their bikes and something to carry food.
STREET VENDOR BIKE TOUR SERIES
2026 will kick off our 2nd annual Street Vendor Bike Tour Series running from May-Oct, the last Saturday of the month. We will meet at a central location, bike to a neighborhood, and meet street vendors. People are able to purchase whatever they want to eat/drink (and pack leftovers). CxS will purchase the rest and distribute it to the community after the ride. We end the ride by supporting a local bakery.
